I conducted a research project with a classmate at my second-year internship. We presented our research with the help of our research professor, Dr. Nikki Lee.
My professional interest in psychotherapy started at a young age. I credit my upbringing for sparking my interest in helping others, as both of my parents worked in the healthcare field and modeled the importance of serving your community.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and worked as a research assistant in the Psychology Department at UVA following graduation. Though I have a passion and curiosity for learning and research, I chose to return to my primary passion of providing direct care through pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
During graduate school, I worked with adults with severe mental illness and youth in group homes and alternative school settings. I received the Student Field Impact Award in my graduating class for my work in my second-year internship. During my internships as an MSW candidate, I had hands on experience with individual, group, and family counseling.
After graduating, I worked with youth in public and alternative schools as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor and Outpatient Therapist. I am most proud of facilitating a social skills group for Middle School Boys diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.
In 2022, I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and joined a local group practice to provide outpatient therapy. I later chose to follow my dream of starting my own private practice in February of 2024.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and our pets. I love running, baking, attending group exercise classes at the Y, and volunteering with a local animal rescue. If you are one of my virtual clients, you may catch a glimpse of one of my pets or a foster pup!
About Me
I worked as a research assistant for Dr. Jamie Cage in the Social Work Department at VCU. This is a picture of me with Dr. Cage at graduation.
My dog and I enjoy running together! We ran a 5k with funds going towards Richmond Animal Care and Control.
